Work to continue thru the end of October Thanks to more Utah State grant funds, Pinebrook will continue to manage fire fuel in its open space starting today, October 11th. Forestry crews will begin thinning and piling north and west of Sun Peak, above and below the loop of Canyon Drive, and above Pine Ridge Drive above the mailboxes.

Great benefit of collective efforts and long-term commitment The BBC recently published a fabulous article sharing the story of a California town’s preparation which helped it survived a wildfire. It’s a good read and strongly supports the work Pinebrook has been doing for the past six years, and intends to continue in perpetuity. Park City, Utah – Effective July 11, 2024, any open fires, including fireworks, are prohibited within Park City limits.   At their regular meeting on July 11, the Park City Council, in consultation with the City’s Fire Marshall, Park City Fire Department, Park City Police, and the City’s Emergency Manager, voted to enact a prohibition on open fires including fireworks, campfires, slash piles, and wood-burning fire pits. Green Waste Only; No Dumpsters Dumpster Days was conceived as a bonus service for Pinebrook residents. It was historically a joint Pinebrook Master Association and Pinebrook Homeowners Association initiative.  Unfortunately, in recent years the hazards and costs — and visual blight — eclipsed the benefits. The event became a draw for an ever-larger volume of residents from well beyond Pinebrook. It became a magnet for dumpster diving with even small children climbing into the dumpsters walking through broken shards of glass and shrapnel. Pinebrook has again been awarded grant funds from the Utah Watershed Restoration Initiative (WRI) which are available to Pinebrook residents now through June 15, 2024. This grant provides partial reimbursement to Pinebrook property owner for costs incurred creating defensible space around Pinebrook residences using Firewise Landscaping concepts.  $50,000 in total funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be used by June 15, 2024.  A maximum grant award of $6,000 per property is available and awards will range from 25% to 75% of the cost of each project.  Completion of an application will notify the Pinebrook Fire Safety Committee (PFSC) of a homeowner’s interest in… Read More »

Nov 20 – After successful burning yesterday along Two Mile Creek below Ecker Hill in Unit 4 and above iDare Trail and around Lower Meeks Trail in Unit 5, work will continue today, November 20, in Unit 3 above and behind Ecker Hill Middle School. Wednesday, Nov 9 – Controlled burning continues behind the Ecker Hill Middle School, and has begun along Two Mile Creek between Buckboard and Big Spruce. The Pinebrook Master Association (PMA) will be performing controlled pile burning in the near future. This work, to be undertaken by local forestry expert Alpine Forestry, should occur in November or December of 2022 and will begin when an approved “burn window” is opened by state and local authorities; see below map with the areas in which burning will occur.
